about
For over 20 years the couple Ewa and Bohdan Hanushevsky have been exploring and celebrating the old, original folk music of Eastern and Southeastern Europe. They became famous for their powerful and passionate interpretations of folk music from the Ukraine, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, and Macedonia, with Yiddish and Roma music as the connecting elements in their repertoire.
They seek to bring the energetic authenticity of the folk songs to the stage, beyond music-ethnological boundaries and free from folk kitsch. The performance in the Rochuskapelle was full of melancholic and reflective moments in many spirited stories and melodies, between joy and wisdom, taken directly from the full spectrum of life. Or, as the band puts it: Heart music.
