"Katie Cruel" is originally an American song from the previous century. It's about a mysterious woman who doesn't follow the rules of society. She is unique and difficult to define.
"Katie Cruel" is also a vocal-guitar duo with the Albanian singer Fjoralba Turku and the American guitarist Geoff Goodman. Their music is unique. The origin of both musicians can be heard and felt in every note. Ten musical years together, two duo CDs, several tours as well as close friendship, allow this duo a musical trust, understanding, and depth that is seldom found in this form. Intense color tones and sound patterns merge voice and guitar into one instrument. Their program is far from any doctrine. The result, a mixture of different genres and timbres - own compositions as well as traditionals; folk, blues, jazz, world music as well as classical sounds and free improvisations, Fjoralba Turku's Albanian vocal sounds combined with the American blues and the sound of the banjo; Albanian chanson accompanied by mandocello and electric guitar. Unique. Can only be defined as "Katie Cruel".
Their performance in the little chapel was a wonderfully warm concert between jazz and folklore, between Albania and the USA, with a lot of voice and virtuosity. Thanks to the two musicians for their fine intimate play in the sold out Rochuskapelle!
